What is PMS (Portfolio Management Services)?
PMS is a service where experienced portfolio managers actively manage investments on your behalf. Unlike mutual funds, PMS portfolios are more concentrated and personalised, and your investments are held directly in your own demat account, with complete transparency.

Frequently asked questions
Your questions, answered
1. What is the minimum amount needed for PMS?
SEBI mandates a minimum investment of ₹50 lakh for Portfolio Management Services.
2. Is PMS better than mutual funds?
Not necessarily. PMS offers more personalisation and transparency but needs a larger amount and usually costs more. Many investors are well served by mutual funds.
3. How is a PMS manager selected?
We look at your goals and risk profile, then at each manager’s strategy, track record across market cycles, process and costs, and explain the options to you.
4. Is PMS risky?
PMS portfolios are often more concentrated than mutual funds, which can mean higher ups and downs. Returns are not guaranteed.
5. Will I be able to track my holdings?
Yes. The stocks are held in your own demat account, and you receive regular reports from the portfolio manager.
6. What fees does PMS charge?
Providers may charge a fixed management fee and, in some cases, a performance fee. All fees are set out in the provider’s disclosure document.
